It?s the last of these that the business partners, co-owners of CRA - Cost Recovery Associates Inc., in Holyoke - chose to tackle after years of cumulative experience in the telecommunications industry. "Robert S. Varady and his business partner, Laura L. Bernstein, can cite many times they’ve saved money for customers on their phone service. But one instance stands out. Their company, Cost Recovery Associates, recouped $135,000 for a customer who had made an international call, but the telephone carrier’s switch never disconnected the call. “The call was going day and night for a month and a half,” Varady recalled. CRA called in an expert in telecommunications switching who diagnosed the problem, he said."
